President Yoweri Museveni on 17th March, 2018 launched constriction of a seven billion Hospital in Sheema district. The hospital is under Bushenyi medical centre. The hospital was started by Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye the MP for Sheema North and minister for Innovations, science and technology will be situated at the headquarters of ICOBI and KCRC in Sheema municipality.
President Museveni hailed minister Elioda Tumwesigye for complementing government in the health sector like fighting HIV/AIDS among others. The president contributed 30 million shillings towards the construction of a magnificent Hospital. The function coincided with the 20th anniversary of Bushenyi Medical center [BMC] which started in 1998. Dr. Elioda told the president that BMC has been looking after 13,000 people living with HIV/AIDS and 19,000 orphans and other vulnerable children who came up as the result of HIV killing their parents. President Museveni also launched the distribution of mosquito nets in some districts in the region at Kabwohe play ground in Sheema district. He also visited Kabwohe mosque in same district and contributed to them 100 million shillings. He also warned the people of Sheema district to fight poverty from all corners life and stop distributing land to children but form family companies and each family member should be given shares but the head of the family should have majority shares in such companies. The function was attended by dignitaries from different walks of life like the American Ambassador to Uganda HE Debra Malac, ministers Maj. Kahinda Otafiire, Mary Karooro Okurut, MPs among others. Mr. Museveni said that Ugandans need to emphasise prevention of disease rather than cure because most of the diseases that afflict the people of Uganda are preventable. Mr. Museveni also said that diseases greatly affect countries and their economic performance because those ailments consume a lot of time and resources on top of affecting the productivity of the labour force.
